1. Who we are
ClearDesk Business Services provides bookkeeping, tax preparation, back-office and finance automation support to clients across New Zealand, the United Arab Emirates and Sri Lanka. We are responsible for personal information collected through this website and while providing our services.
2. What we collect
- Information you give us — name, email address, phone number, business details and anything you write in an enquiry form, email or BOTIM message.
- Applicant information — your location, availability, work-rights note, experience summary and CV when you choose to send an expression of interest.
- Client records — where you engage us, the financial records, tax information and supporting documents needed to do the work.
- Website usage information — basic, aggregated information about how pages are used, where analytics are enabled.
The readiness check tool on this website processes your answers entirely within your own browser. Your answers are not transmitted to us or to anyone else, and we do not see them unless you choose to send them.

4. How we store and protect it
Information is stored in secured systems with access limited to those who need it to do the work. We use reputable third-party providers for accounting software, document storage, communications and secure website-form delivery. Information submitted through a website form is processed by the form delivery provider so it can be emailed to ClearDesk. Those providers process information on our behalf under their own terms.
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell personal information. We share it only where necessary to deliver our services (for example with a software provider processing data on our behalf), where you have asked us to (for example filing a return on your authority), or where we are legally required to.
6. How long we keep it
Client records are retained for the period required by applicable tax and record-keeping law, and then securely destroyed. Enquiry and applicant information is kept only for as long as it remains useful for the purpose it was supplied, subject to legal requirements, and can be deleted on request where no continuing lawful reason requires retention.
7. Your rights
Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to ask for it to be corrected, and to complain if you believe we have handled it improperly. Contact us at info@cleardesk.co.nz in the first instance. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
8. Marketing messages
We send commercial messages only where you have consented. Every message identifies us as the sender and includes a working way to opt out, in line with the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007. You can opt out at any time by replying to any message or emailing info@cleardesk.co.nz.
9. Cookies and analytics
This website uses no advertising cookies. Where basic analytics are enabled, they are used only to understand which pages are useful, in aggregate.
10. Cross-border information
ClearDesk supports clients across New Zealand, the United Arab Emirates and Sri Lanka. Depending on the engagement and approved systems, information may be accessed or processed across borders. We identify relevant data locations, client instructions, supplier safeguards and applicable transfer requirements when establishing the engagement. Sector, free-zone or other rules may also apply.
